THE RESCUE
A DOG IS FOR LIFE – NOT FOR JUST WINNING
Sadly, the above statement has a certain ring of truth about it in the show world. A seemingly “show quality” puppy doesn’t live up to its original expectations and it becomes another sad statistic in this throw-away-world. When you look around at the way humans abuse humans, the terrible atrocities which nations carry out against other nations, is it surprising that animal mis-treatment has become more common place in our society today?
We keep in touch with the other Rescues in the UK and try to help each other out either by giving homes where required or re-homing where we have a suitable person looking to give a new home to an affie in need. Because of the fewer numbers going through the Rescue, it seems that breeders are more careful to whom the let their puppies go.
The Rescue can’t survive without the help of those who donate, either through the ‘Affix Wall’ at the Championship Show, hold raffles to raise more funds or donating prizes to our money-raising schemes. So we would like to thank all those who have dug deeply into their pockets again this year to support us:- the club members, Ann Gibb’s OAPs in East Kilbride, Nicki Mulvale for donating prizes for ‘The Wall’(as usual, if I’ve missed anyone, I apologise!!!!!).
This year’s been quiet and we’re not complaining, but it can change very quickly through one phone call. We all owe it to our favourite breed to ensure that the casualties remain low. So, when you are having a litter or are asked by someone if they can use your dog on their bitch, please think about it. Some of the pups may become the next casualties to come through The Rescue.
Thanks for all your support
John & Susan Blane.
