Afghan Hound Club of Scotland Open Show 11th June 2022
Lianne O'Donnell (Javidan)
First of all many thanks to the club for inviting me to judge their show, the weather just about held off for us all. As always the committee put in a huge amount of effort to make every exhibitor feel welcome, sadly we do not have the numbers anymore but quality was still found.
Post grad dog (1)
1st McPhilips Tulak Rebel In The Rye at Dargai. 4 year old Well done to his handler for doing her best as he was a handful. Self masked gold, elegant head with balanced angles fore and aft, carrying too much weight for my liking, when he settled he moved well.
Limit dog (2)
1st Moyes & Lockett-Davies Bryelis Rebel Heart JW. Black & Silver, almost 4, this boy is his own worst enemy, ultimately I could not deny him the class on his confirmation. He is houndy with a dark eye & masculine head with long neck into good front, good depth of chest with good spring of rib, he was being difficult for his young handler today but still covered the ground with great length of stride. I do hope he gets over this reluctance to raise his tail. RBD
2nd Gleed & McPhersons Khorinya Habutai Silk. 5 year old Cream boy of different type to 1, refined in head with chiselling, dark pigment, not the front of 1 but balanced fore and aft, well muscled beautifully presented, moved well.
Open dog (2)
1st Andersons Zandahar Tartan Xplorer JW. I have watched this dog many times ringside, 4 year old, he is now at one with his handler, his head is beautiful and clean with chiselling and good eye, long neck into good shoulder and matching return ,good spring of rib with short loin into well angulated rear, beautifully presented. On the move is where he shows it all, full of power with good reach and drive covering the ground. BD and BIS
2nd Hunters Neptune De Koulanger At Sulahmara JW (IMP FRA). almost 5 year old, gold, lovely head overall and well chiselled, good angles fore and aft but would prefer a slightly shorter loin, a little bit of a handful on the move but once he settled he moved steadily covering the ground.
Vet Dog or Bitch (2,1abs)
1st Gilchrist & MacLennan Sumkandi In To The Light at Khawari. 9 years old, not looking her age at all, black masked red in great coat, carrying to much weight for me, balanced angles for and aft, on the move when she put her mind to it she strode out well with a delightful glimpse of cheekiness BVIS
Limit bitch (2,1abs)
1st Nisbet & Forresters Pramya Hot But Not Blonde at Finix JW (IMP FIN). Black and silver 3 years old, presented in great condition, pretty head with lovely expression, clean neck into good shoulder and return, deep chest good spring of rib and balanced rear, she moves with ease and lift. I just felt she was lacking that extra sparkle her kennel mate had, close call RBB
Open Bitch (1)
1st Nisbet & Forresters Zandahar Xclusively For Finix JW. 4 year old black and tan with pretty head, dark eye of good shape, good neck into well made front, good spring of rib, short loin, on the move she has reach and drive, she was full of herself today and beautifully presented with great muscle tone.
