A lovely atmosphere as always at the Afghan Hound Club of Scotland, congratulations must go to the committee for such a well run show with beautiful prizes on offer for all placings. Thanks to my 2 efficient stewards Conrad & Margaret Langer.
In comparison to judging the bitches two weeks earlier, the overall entry & quality of dogs was disappointing,  mediocrity being the norm, with only a handful of dogs I felt could be worthy of top honours.     I was looking for an athlectic, houndy, powerful male.   Many sadly lacked muscle tone, carried too much coat & shuffled round the ring. Dirty teeth seemed to be common in the higher classes.

Veteran Dog (1.1)

Minor Puppy Dog (1)
1st O'Neill's  Devanmarn Could It Be Majic
Houndy B/t who presents a lovely outline.  Beautiful head & dark well shaped eye, reachy neck into well laid shoulders, level  top-line, fair spring of rib, great depth to chest, prominent pin bones, good angle & length to croup, well set on, sparsely feathered ring tail. nicely angled front & rear.  Moved with style, looks lovely in profile, just a bit narrow coming & going at present  BPD.

Puppy Dog (1)
1st  Day's Jhanzi T’Sterlin at Khorinyas(Imp NZ)  Eye-catching blue, masculine head, strong neck, adequate angles front & rear, level top-line, would have liked more depth to chest but he still has time,  good croup &  ring tail, low hocks, strode out well, with excellent carriage, true coming & going.  Prefered the leggyness of the minor puppy.

Junior Dog (2.1)
1st Metcalfe's Calamus Orient Express (Imp)  B/S handsome head, lovely eye & expression, adequate front angulation.  big feet, good depth & well ribbed back, good croup, lovely quarters, low hocks, well set on ring tail, moved well.

Yearling Dog (4.2)
1st Oag's  Asianskies Blu Print  with Trofagin  Leggy & houndy male. Best head, eye & expression I have seen on a blue, long strong arched neck into excellent shoulder placement, great return of upper arm, huge feet, hard level top-line which he held on the move, prominent pin bones & good angle to croup, tail is set on correctly but lacks ring. Beautifully angulated rear with great length from hip to low hocks.   He possesses that fabulous springy gait that takes your breath away.  Could have been moved faster to advantage.  Good body condition, coat could be in better condition.
2nd Calamus Orient Express (Imp)

Novice Dog (1)
1st MacMillan's Kharabou Scott Spirit   B/S masculine head of good length, shade light in eye,  good ribbing, big feet, ring tail, a bit overweight.

Under Graduate Dog (2)
1st Calamus Orient Express (Imp)
2nd Kharabou Scott Spirit

Graduate Dog (2.1 w/d)
1st Hurl's Javidan Kiss The Sky over Tarakhi  Masculine b/m gold who was a nice overall shape, under a huge coat.
Nicely angled front & rear, deep chest, good fall away,  ringed tail.  It took him several runs round the ring to settle into a stride & relax his top-line.

Post Graduate Dog (9.1) A nice class.
1st Broadhead's Tulak The Sentinel at Tazieff  JW ShCM  A real quality dog, who is correct for size, substance & coat, perfectly balanced & not overdone in anyway.  S/M gold. Stunning head with  chiseled  fore-face, small dark triangular eye, giving the correct oriental expression, nice square dog, with balanced front & rear angles, in lovely hard muscular condition, excellent top-line & croup & ring tail, lovely reachy side-gait & true coming and going.  Could not fault him, was kept in the final three.
2nd  Lancashire & O'Donell's Javidan All In The Name of Drishaun  Impressive red brindle, who is unhappy to be gone over, but comes into his own on the move. Big masculine dog, long, nicely chiseled fore-face with powerful under-jaw, lovely beard, dark well shaped eye, good length of neck into well placed shoulders, good top-line, deep ribcage with correct spring, good angulation front & rear, has an impressive length of stride.  Hope he gains confidence in the ring with time, certainly worth persevering with.
3rd Woodwards Abicas Rhinestone Cowboy (Imp DK)

Mid Limit Dog (4)
1st Moyes & Hunter's Cloudside Emperor Rules Bryelis  JW ShCM  Such a well made honest dog.  Not keen on his head, which is a bit strong in back-skull.   A very workman like dog, could easily picture him hunting in the mountains.  Good length of neck, nice lay-back of shoulder, strong level topline, good pin bones & length & angle to croup, correctly set, ring tail.  He has good angulation, which is balanced front & rear, nice feet, low hocks. Sound & powerful movement
2nd Finch, Hopper & Bovey's Khatira Odysseus From Zinzani Karianca  B/M cream, built on similar lines to 1, finer in head, good length of neck, nice angle & length to shoulder & upper arm, correct rig-cage, level top-line, nicely angulated rear, moved well but not the stride of 1
3rd Morrison's Tulak Under Siege  JW ShCM

Limit Dog (5)
1st Lloyd's Krishan The Emperor
Just my type, dark brindle, a real stallion, leggy, square & powerful.  Long fore-face, punishing jaws, a bit too much back-skull & stop,  dark well shaped eyes. Long strong neck, flowing into well laid shoulders.  Strong topline, broad muscular loin, good pin bones & croup, correct spring, length & depth of rib-cage.  Nicely angulated front & rear.  Tail long & well set, lacked ring but has an acceptable curve.  In hard muscular condition, not overly coated which enhanced his lovely outline. Nice easy movement, with reach drive & spring, true coming & going. RCC.
2nd Nisbet & Forrester's Kharabou Scot Wizardly Ways  Very attractive B/T. Reminded me of Gameboy.  Smaller dog of completely different type to 1st. Has a beautiful head , eye & expression.   Also in 1st class condition.  Correct ribbing & length of loin, good croup & tail set, ring tail.  Excellent quarters low hocks, moved soundly & with great style, not quite the reach of 1 in front.  Shown & presented beautifully.
3rd Lee's Sukeshi Perfect Crime

Open Dog (11.3)
1st James  CH Shimalma Mercurial Magic  B/M red. What a lovely dog, so nice in all department, could not fault him.  Beautiful head, lean but masculine, mandarin beard, good eye & expression.  Long neck which flows into well laid shoulders, corresponding return of upper arm.  Good length to height ratio.  Strong level back, prominent pin bones & correct angle to croup, correctly set on ring tail. Lovely quarters which were balance with his front, really uses himself on the move, with good reach & drive.  Looked like he could have gone all day.  Beautifully conditioned, his owner has obviously put a lot of work into him & it has paid off.  Was delighted to award him the CC. took BIS on the referee's decision.
2nd Mathers & Semple's IR.CH Cloudside Sundance with Metewand
A real favourite of mine. Pale gold with the most exotic head, eye & expression.  Lightly coated which enhances his beautiful outline.  A lovely dog to go over, well conditioned & just so correctly made.  I would just like a bit more of him all over.  Covers the ground effortlessly with long easy strides,  sound coming & going.
