Afghan Hound Club of ScotlandOpen Show - 6th June 2015

I would like to thank Afghan Hound Club of Scotland for their invitation to judge and their warm hospitality on the day. The extremely strong wind on the day unsettled a few of the hounds, which unfortunately affected the performance in later classes. Thank you everyone who entered under me and I appreciate my steward’s hard work on the day.

Puppy Dog (no entries)

Junior Dog (4, 2)

1. Howle’s Chinzaes Judgement Day, well build black & tan dog with excellent bone and substance, deep chest with good spring of rib, big feet, level topline, good fallaway, perfectly ringed tail completes the picture, moved with an easy springy gate, he lost on maturity in the challenge, will watch this young dog with interest
2. Blane’s Chinzaes Judge ‘N’ Jury At Zanjadan, brindle litter brother to winner, not as strong in body and longer cast than winner, very attractive head with good eye shape giving desired expression, level topline, ringed tail, not as purposeful on the move as his brother.

Yearling Dog (2)

1. Langer’s Khamis Pacific Tiger, well balanced throughout brindle dog, good front construction with well laid back shoulders and good return of upper arm, deep chest,
2. Leitch’s Khamis Panamah Red, bm gold litter brother to winner, stylish dog with most attractive head, good eye shape and beard, would prefer more return of upper arm and better front movement.

Post Graduate Dog (no entries)

Limit Dog (1)

1. MacMillan’s Kharabou Scot Spirit , well balanced strong black & cream dog, excellent head, eye and expression, strong bone, good front assembly, well angled rear quarters, did not always hold his topline a little, he was unsettled on the move which affected his performance, a quality dog overall would like to see him move on a different day

Open Dog (5, 3)

Two quality hounds
1. Nisbet & Forrester’s Kharabou Scot Wizardly Ways, loved this stylish black & tan dog in excellent condition, so well proportioned with no exaggeration anywhere, balanced head with dark eye giving an arrogant expression, long neck, long sloping shoulders and good return of upper arm, deep chest, good spring of rib, level topline, ringed tail, moved around the ring with easy springy purposeful ground covering strides with good reach and drive, a functional hound he combined strength and dignity with elegance and a style of high order, a clear winner on the day BD & BIS
2. McPhillips’ Tulak The Navigator At Dargai ShCM, quality bm silver dog of different type to 1, heavier build than winner he has textbook front assembly, long bone, deep chest, so well balanced throughout, would like to see a stronger topline, long ground covering stride but not as purposeful on the move, could not deny RBD & RBIS.

Veteran (3, 3)

Puppy Bitch (no entries)

Junior Bitch (3, 1)

1. Gleed & McPherson’s Tamariki Fire In The Sky, attractive bmg bitch, balanced head, very good eye and expression, very good front assembly and she did not disappoint on the move, although was somewhat unsettled by the wind, should have a bright future
2. O’Donnell, Macrae & O’Donnell’s Joneca Taffeta, oyster brindle, fine in head, well proportioned, good length of leg, would like more layback of shoulder and return of upper arm, showed lovely springy easy stride once settled on the move.

Yearling Bitch (2)

1. Gilchrist & MacLennan’s Sumakandhi Into The Light At Khawari, bmg won this class on her flowing balanced movement, two quality bitches, a lot to like about both, preferred front assembly and movement of winner RBB
2. Leitch’s Khamis Priority One, longer cast than 1, loved her feminine head and expression, long sweeping hindquarters, less settled on the move but could change places on a different day.

Post Graduate Bitch (2)

1. O’Donnell, Macrae & O’Donnell’s Khamis Passion For Stripes At Javidan, gold brindle, balanced head with good eye and expression, well bodied, excellent front, level topline, moved exceptionally well with easy ground covering strides BB
2. Howie & Black’s Khamis Prada At Chinzaes, bmg, very attractive head with excellent expression, not as strong in front, could not compete with 1 on the move.

Limit Bitch (2, 1 w/d)

1. Hunter’s Cloudside Dark Empress At Sulahmara, black bitch with feminine balanced head, good front assembly , strong neck into well laid back shoulders, good return of upper arm, would like more spring of rib, level topline, did not move as well as construction suggests she can, was unsettled by strong wind.

Open Bitch (4, 1)

1. McCormack’s Tulak Practical Magic, this silver girl won this class of three quality bitches, very good front, good layback of shoulder and return of upper arm, topline could be stronger, sweeping hindquarters, moved well, preferred her overall balance
2. Forrester’s Hubblebub Morrigan By Punkly, black & tan bitch, would like more layback of shoulders and could have a stronger topline when stacked, very stylish on the move but not the front extension and balance of the winner, good length of bone, good rear angles, perfect ringed tail
3. O’Donnell’s Ch Javidan Keep The Faith ShCM
