Afghan Hound Club of Scotland Open Show 24.08.2013
Afternoon Judge Anouska Simpson

Minor Puppy Dog.  2 Entries 1 abs. 1st and BPIB Gardner’s  Maringo Wicked Games with Bichoux.  Super B+T boy with masculine head and roman nose hidden under profuse monkey whiskers.  Lovely long neck with  correct shoulder and forearm assembly  leading back to deep rib cage giving houndy appearance.  Rear quarters complimenting the front giving a lovely true forwards and after movement.  All set off with a low set tail with a perfect ring raised on the move.  Truly loving his day and showing off with flying changes to make any dressage competitors envious I am sure!

Puppy Dog. 2 Entries.  1st Gardners Maringo Wicked ames with Bichoux.
2nd Oag’s Asainskies Blu Print with Trofagin. Diferent type to one.  Blue toned dog with lovely spring of ribs but more immature on the move as yet and tail not yet set into a ring but still has time.  Coat Presentation outstanding.

Junior Dog. 3 entries 1 absent. 1st Earnshaw’s Lionheart Du Jegdalek (IMP BEL).  Gold shade mask.  A new boy to me who filled my eye.  Stunning  yet masculine  head with attractive  chiselling and a lovely triangular eye.   Well of for bone all over giving me the impression that when this boy matures he could do his job.  Lovely long neck leading to good ribs with plenty of organ room with a level back held firm on the move.  Correct forward and hind extension due to correctly balanced angles but as yet he’s still understandably loose which today had to cost him higher honours in the challenge
2nd Nobles Gezancol Willy Nilly at Bichoux.  Black and silver boy  - another I like but today preferred head of one and he was not willing to behave at all on the move as too busy having fun so could not fully assess.

Yearling Dog 3 entries 1 withdrawn.  1st Nobles Willy Nilly at Bichoux.  This time he behaved better to deserve the class!  Moved well with lovely spring while maintaining a level back with nice  extension.  He has a super long neck and well balanced angles and good square outline giving him a houndy appearance.  Correct ring to tail to finish the picture.
2nd Charltons Javidan Primal Scream with Nyanza.  A boy who moved with absolute enthusiasm with his handler.  Super deep rib cage.  Preferred over all balance of 1.

Graduate dog No entries

Post Graduate dog 3 entries 1 absent.  1st  and BD and BIS  Bastows Karinikar Moon Dancer.  Black dog of a lighter type to 2nd but none the less a very houndy dog.  Beautiful head  of a size that compliments his frame.  Great chiselling, dark triangular eye and punishing bite.  Holds his top line rock hard on the move with super forward and after extension due to his angulation.  Commands your attention on the move and the picture is finished with a super set and ring of tail.  Presented in tip-top condition..  Was pushed hard by reserve best dog but none the less deserved his awards today.
2nd   Morrisons Tulak Under Seige JW SH CM Gold shaded dog different to 1 but of a type that I like with correct bone and substance.  Lovely deep jaw and punishing bite but today not holding his topline as playing mum up a little.

Limit Dog 3 entries 1 absent.  1st and RBD Nisbet and Firrester’s Kharabou Scot Wizardly Ways.  Black and tan of similar type to BD.  Pushed BD very hard.  In the end preferred angulations of BD by a whisker. Super drive and  extension for and aft on the move with a hard level topline while moving   commands attention.  Lovely ringed tail completes the picture along with perfect presentation from this clever handler.
2nd McPhillips Tulak The Navigator at Dargai.  Same type as 2nd in PGD – again a type I like that makes you believe this dog has the jaw depth and strength to achieve its func tion.  Preferred bone quality of this dog to 1 but preferred over all movement and ringed tail of 1.

Open Dog 4 entries 3 absent.  Anderson and Elliott’s Finix Veldricken SHCM.  Masculin B&T with the most amazing length ears and coat presentation of the day.  Very houndy with deep jaw, correct triangular eyes and an over all expression that looks at you and through you.  Again of an appealing type and kennel type.  I believe I have placed this dog well in the past.  Unfortunately today he rarely raised his tail in action and his muscle tone of top line and hind quarters was soft which let him down on the move and cost him further honours.

Veteran dog and bitch  6 entries 1 absent. 1st and BV  Thompson and Twentyman’s Drishaun D Jemima at Gothika SH CM 9.5 years  young - red bitch with a lovely deep jaw and punishing  bite.  Nicely laid shoulder but would prefer slightly better return of upper arm but none the less on the move she moved out and was balanced for and aft and held top line firmly .  Lovely square balanced outline on the stand and finished with a stunning coat.  Well deserving of her place.
2nd Leiper’s Aluoann Tart/n/Rainbows to Joneca.  Different kennel type to 1.  Gold bitch 8 years old.  Very feminine and stylish and moves with balanced for and aft movement  but prefer topline on the move of 1 today.

Minor Puppy Bitch 1 entry. 1st and BPB Maringo Rumour has it at Bichoux.  Litter sister to BPIS and out of the same mould.  Black and tan feminine girl but don’t let her feminine head deceive you.  Under profuse monkey whiskers and away from her cheeky triangular eyes is a deep jaw and punishing bite.  She has a long neck, correctly angulated for and aft though as yet , due to her age is waiting to drop on her hind quarters.  Led her handler a merry dance today  but on the glimpses that she settled she moved truly away and towards.  Shall be watching her and her brother with interest.

Puppy Bitch 1 entry.  As MPB

Junior Bitch 3 entries 1st and RBB Busby’s Sydarya Maletd Milk at Wilbus JW.  Exotic Cream bitch with a lovely feminine head while maintaining a deep jaw and punishing bite.  Triangular eyes giving correct expression.  Lovely ringed tail with correct low setting finishes her image on the stand and move.  On the move she won the class on her forward and rear extension and rear drive  that was in complete harmony.
2nd Thompson and Twentymans Gezancol Smoke and Mirrors at Gothika.  Gold black mask with the most lovely squarest of outlines.  Lovely level shoulders and also short loin however lost class due to inconsistency on the move on this class and prefer refinement in head of 1 today.

Yearling Bitch3 entries 1st Thompson and Twentymans Gezancol Smoke and Mirrors at Gothika.  She went better in this class to win it… but she went better when she thought she was not being assessed!  Holds her shape perfectly on the move when she wants to!
Charlton’s Javidan Looks that Kill with Nyanza.  Brindle bitch with a correct and appealing  outline on the stand.  Well angulated but prefer the movement of 1 when 1 got her act together.

Graduate Bitch4 entries 1 absent. 1st as in Yearling
2nd O’Donnell’s Javidan Hell on High heels.  Oyster brindle.  A lovely rangey houndy girl.  Moved well for her handler but not holding her shape on the stand.  Prefer foot of 1 as prefer larger foot.

Post Graduate Bitch 4 entries 1 absent. 1st and with drawn in the challenge McCormack’s Tulak Practical Magic.  Cream self mask of a beautiful yet hunting type.  Exotic  like  junior bitch.  Lovely shoulder and forarm assembly and hind quarters matched and didn’t disspoint.  Very well muscled – a point that should be remembered – a dog cannot hold its shape without muscle and it could not do its job.  Didn’t move her best today but moved well enough for long enough to more than justify her class in combination with her over all construction.
2nd Coombes Gilari Devil Woman.  gold shaded feminine bitch.  This bitch is improving with age and has better front assembly than appears from ringside  however today preferred over all construction of 1.

Limit Bitch 5 entries 2 absent.  1st and BB and RBIS McKendry’s and Hughes Cloudside Empress Octavia.  A stunning brindle bitch.  Of a different kennel type to most today but houndy femine head with lovely deep jaw.  Exotic  triangular eyes, lovely chiselling in her  head and demands to be looked at.  In absolute hard condition.  Holds her topline perfectly on the move, moves with spring, drive and perfect for and aft extension.  Absolute contender for BIS but occasionally being pulled out of shape on stand by handler costing her this position from her stiff competition.
2nd Bastow’s Karinikar My Serenade.  Black femeine bitch…what a stunning head with the tightest triangular eye.  Pushed 1 hard but occasionally dipped topline which finally cost her the class.

Open Bitch 3 entries 1 absent. Anderson and Ellitos Hubblebub Beira at Finix SH CM.  Black and silver bitch – more of kennel type of the winning boys.  Deep muzzle, very good for bone but in my opinion needs a shorter loin to help her maintain her topline and harder muscle condition.
